How Many Images Should Be In A Wedding Album?

That’s easy: Not too many and not to few!

Now that we’ve solved that riddle… wait, you want a more precise answer? Well, that’s a bit harder now, isn’t it?

As we said, too many is no good. It results in busy, distracting albums where images are shrunken to fit them all in, and no image stands out as a star.

Too few, of course, is no good either.
You don’t want to be flipping through a book of blank pages, searching for something to look at.

Aiming for a smaller number of images challenges you to tell the story efficiently.
It also ensures you present only the best of the images.

Here’s a guideline that we like to follow when designing an album:

Take the target number of pages in the album and multiply it by 2 or 2.5.
For example, if you want a 20 page album, aim for 40 to 50 images. You’ll average between 2 and 2.5 images per page.

Conversely, if you know how many images you want but don’t know how many pages the album should contain, divide the number of images by 2 or 2.5. For example, if you have 70 images to include, shoot for 28-35 pages.

That’s too many pages, you say? Consider cutting out some of the less necessary images.
You’ll likely find that the overall album design benefits from the cut.

Sometimes, as they say, less is more.
